@BNE JC
Judo is fun & pretty cool. You get fit by doing throws and falls with safe techniques and wrestling like BJJ. You wear a Judo Gi (suit) and get new belts as you get better.
You’ll learn Japanese martial arts culture. Family values and behaviour are reinforced. You can watch the international competition circuit on U-Tube and the Olympics. If you are motivated to challenge yourself then you can enter competitions too.
Your judo path
Training is guided by Paul Nelson, with support of other black belt coaches, two of whom are parents with sons at the club. The adults can learn from state, national and international champion members however classes are geared for inclusion & development at one’s own level.
We are experienced in ensuring you get more fit, skilled, educated and aware of your own abilities.

Judo
Judo was formalised from other Ju Jitsu in Japan by Jigoro Kano c. 1882. Thanks to Kano’s worldly view it has grown into a global Olympic sport. Safety is intrinsic in Judo and at the Brisbane Judo Club. Judo is physically and mentally challenging. By progressing in judo and enjoying the social experience, a player develops confidence. Judo also comes with a moral code and is good self-defence.

We value and hold & deliver government recognised coach & child protection accreditation & International Olympic & Judo Federation belt grades. UNESCO rated judo as one of the most holistic development activities for youth. It is a “Do” or “way of life” which is more than just sport or combat skill (jitsu). The skills of judo; stability and balance, falling, and always getting-back-up are valuable for all sports and one’s life.
It’s never too late to start judo.
